Sean O’Malley gives a ruthless scouting report on Conor McGregor

There was a time when UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley looked as much as and admired Conor McGregor.

It seems he even modeled his flamboyant style after the two-division champion. Those days of admiration and affection for McGregor appear to be a thing of the past, as O’Malley unleashed a scathing critique of his former idol’s fighting skills in a post on X on Monday.

Following a jab from McGregor, O’Malley posted this in a brief series of X-posts geared toward the previous.

The two men had insulted one another, but most recently McGregor looked as if it would have mocked O’Malley on social media.

In a now-deleted post, McGregor added a laughing emoji as he recited a clip of O’Malley claiming he had received details about ostarine contamination, possibly through sweat transfer.

I took a screenshot of McGregor’s post before he deleted it.

O’Malley has tested positive for a banned substance twice, most recently in 2019He was suspended for this violation, but has at all times stressed that he never knowingly took performance-enhancing drugs.

The banned substance that O’Malley tested positive for was Ostarine, a drug that got here to the eye of combat sports fans after it was present in Ryan Garcia’s A and B samples before and after his fight with Devin Haney in April.

McGregor is a staunch critic of fighters related to performance-enhancing drugs, and he once placed O’Malley in that category. O’Malley responded openly to this criticism from McGregor, but admitted that it made him “sad.”

This time he seemed higher prepared and armed with comebacks for the MMA icon.

All insults which have some element of truth in them hurt somewhat more deeply, which is why among the things O’Malley mentioned are particularly notable.

He acknowledges that McGregor is on a distinct level from an entertainment perspective and recognizes the brilliance of the Irishman’s left hand. However, O’Malley criticizes McGregor’s stamina, which he seems to have lacked in some fights, similar to the primary fight against Nate Diaz, and the questionable jiu-jitsu which will have contributed to losses to Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The allegations of drug abuse and mental deficiency are particularly personal, but these are the form of mind games McGregor frequently plays along with his targets, so it will be unfair to call foul.

The indisputable fact that we’ll probably never see the 2 face off in an Octagon makes this feud almost a temptation, however it’s sure to show heads any time two of the game’s biggest stars face off.

According to McGregor, the toe injury that forced him out of UFC 302 has healed (although he also deleted this post), and there’s hope that he shall be back within the Octagon before the top of the yr. As for O’Malley, he is anticipated to headline Noche UFC in September in a title defense against Merab Dvalishvili.
