Nvidia’s upcoming AI chips delayed by 3 months or more

The release of Nvidia Corp.’s upcoming artificial intelligence chips shall be delayed because of design flaws, The Information reports, citing two unnamed people involved within the production of the chip and server hardware.

Shipments of the chips may very well be delayed by three months or more, which could impact Nvidia’s customers, including Meta Platforms Inc., Google LLC and Microsoft Corp.

According to an unidentified Microsoft worker and one other person, Nvidia informed Microsoft this week of a delay in its most advanced Blackwell series of AI chip models.

The delays mean major deliveries usually are not expected until the primary quarter of 2025, The Information added.

According to the report, an Nvidia spokesperson declined to comment on statements made to customers regarding the delay, but told The Information that “production is on track and expected to ramp up later this year.”

Microsoft, Google, Amazon Web Services and Meta declined to comment to the publication, while a TSMC spokesperson didn’t reply to a request for comment.
