Only US users can call ChatGPT, but OpenAI also announced on Wednesday that global users can access the chatbot by sending messages via WhatsApp to 1-800-242-8478. In the demo, ChatGPT offered a recipe for a pesto pasta dinner via WhatsApp and modified it to be vegan on the user’s request.
Both calling and messaging features require communication with ChatGPT without the necessity to create an account.
According to Weil, the OpenAI team built this feature in only just a few weeks.
“They made a real effort to send it out and it’s great to see it here,” he said.
The feature is one among many announcements made by OpenAI as a part of its “12 days OpenAI” event.
