Workers at the primary Apple Store to unionize just voted to stage the primary strike against the iPhone maker’s retail store

employee on first Apple Store to unionize have now also approved a primary strike against the technology giant’s retail stores.

Workers on the Apple Store in Towson, Maryland, voted to authorize a strike late Saturday, in keeping with a press release from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers’ Coalition of Organized Retail Employees, which represents staff.

No date has been set for the strike. The vote followed what the union called “more than a year of negotiations with Apple management that produced unsatisfactory results.”

According to the statement, staff are demanding changes to what they call “unpredictable” scheduling practices and wages based on local costs of living.

“We value our team members and are proud to offer them industry-leading compensation and exceptional benefits,” Apple said in a press release from a spokesperson. “As always, we will work respectfully and in good faith with the union that represents our team in Towson.”

Workers on the suburban Baltimore store voted to hitch a union by a virtually 2-1 margin in June 2022 growing thrust across U.S. retail, service and technology industries to prepare for higher protection within the workplace.
