While Japanese people greatly value the view of the famous mountain, tourists’ right to see it has been the topic of debate recently. In May, local authorities within the resort town of Fujikawaguchiko arrange an opaque barrier in a distant supermarket with Mount Fuji within the background. The place was flooded with photo-hungry tourists in search of the proper Instagram photo. A second barrier was also recently installed at a Transfer with a similarly photogenic view in Fuji City.
