What if AI could apply for jobs for you by creating customized cover letters and resumes tailored to every job description and get you an interview?
It is perhaps possible. A Reddit user who has since deleted his account name report on their experiences Five months ago, she created an AI bot within the “Get Employed” community that routinely applied for 1,000 jobs on her behalf. The bot applied for the roles – and got the user 50 interviews inside a month.
The AI captured the person’s information, resembling their workplace and academic background, and routinely applied for jobs by generating unique cover letters, resumes, and answers to interview questions.

“And all while I was sleeping!” wrote the Reddit user. “In just one month I was able to win around 50 interviews using this method. The tailored resumes and cover letters tailored to each job description made a significant difference.”
The user didn’t specify the precise job boards, resembling Indeed or LinkedIn, that the bot accessed. They wrote that the unique cover letters and resumes helped them overcome automated screening systems and get noticed by humans.

The Reddit user posted one Link to code for the AI bot so others can try it free of charge. Several Redditors found that the project was broken and never working on the time of writing.
Even if the tool were live, it may not make sense to make use of it. A report published in August by the Financial Times found that while around half of applicants use ChatGPT and other AI tools to help with applications, employers can easily tell whether a candidate has used AI – and this has a negative impact applicants.
“Without proper editing, the language will be clunky and generic, and hiring managers can spot that,” said Victoria McLean, chief executive of profession consultancy CityCV. told the publication.
The biggest red flag for hiring managers was AI-generated resumes, in line with an April study Resume Genius Survey.
