Celebrate Bastille Day on July 14 in New York City

Bastille Day is a national holiday in France and marks the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille and the start of the French Revolution that ended the monarchy.

Bastille Day celebrations include fireworks, live shows and parties throughout France and in lots of cities and towns around the globe.

The kick-off in Paris traditionally begins with a solemn military ceremony, followed by a parade and a flyover over the Champs-Élysées. However, as town prepares for the 2024 Summer Olympics and the Olympic torch is attributable to arrive in Paris on Bastille Day, Parade venue is scheduled to maneuver to Avenue Foch later this 12 months.

New Yorkers can have their picture taken in a photograph truck and have their self-portrait posters placed on a block-long mural on Madison Avenue.
  • Dance with empty poster, repetition: 12:30 p.m. This re-enactment of French choreographer Anne Collod’s 1967 performance of “Blank Placard Dance, Replay” was originally created by Anna Halprin in response to the Vietnam War and social unrest within the United States. Thirty amateur dancers will carry blank signs and be accompanied by a brass band heading uptown. After the performance, Bastille Day participants can suggest statements for blank placards, demonstrating the enduring power of art across people and generations.

A French-style market

More than 50 food and lifestyle vendors will showcase the perfect of France at booths on Madison Avenue. Participating food vendors include Mustela X Mon Cœur, Pistache NYC, Raclette Street, Maman, Crêpe Suzette de France, Home Frite, Julien Boulangerie, Ma Box Française and more.

The French Garden features over a dozen luxury stores, including food, cosmetics and fashion from Angelina Paris, Café d’Avignon, Cartolina, French Wink, La Joie de Vivre bookstore, Mille-Feuille Bakery, Paul Crée, Président, Silpat, SOFITEL, Thermomix USA, Thierry Atlan and more.

Ticketed events

  • Parties: The indoor Rose and Sparkling Wine Parties feature a collection of summer wines, champagne and sweet snacks from La Maison du Chocolate with live jazz music. Two sessions (1:00 p.m. and three:30 p.m.) will probably be offered within the newly renovated Skyroom on the eighth floor of L’Alliance. Tickets are $65 for members and $75 for most of the people.
  • Film screenings: Two movies will probably be shown. “Chicken for Linda!” is a hilarious, family-friendly flick that will probably be shown at 2 p.m. The New York premiere of Quentin Dupieux’s “Daaaaali!”, a comedic tribute to Salvador Dali, will probably be at 5:30 p.m. Both screenings will probably be held on the Florence Gould Theater, 55 E. 59th Street. Tickets are $15 per person and $5 for those under 28.

Bring the youngsters

In the run-up to the Olympics, visitors could have the chance to participate in a wide range of French ball games, including soccer and football. Younger children can enjoy ring toss, face painting and other activities.
