Looking for a cool festival this summer? Visit Vancouver’s historic Chinatown district for the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation‘s fourth, highly anticipated Light up Chinatown! Festival. Sponsored by RBC, Light Up Chinatown! is a free two-day festival designed to have a good time considered one of the town and county’s most famous neighborhoods. The festival will happen on Saturday, August twenty fourth and Sunday, August twenty fifth in the five hundred block of Columbia Street.
Vancouver’s Chinatown is the most important in Canada (and the third largest in North America). It is legendary for its fascinating cultural heritage, architecture and culinary offerings. Established in 1885, it features attractions comparable to the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, the Chinese Canadian Museum and the annual Chinese New Year Parade. The district offers a novel opportunity to study Chinese-Canadian heritage first-hand. Another great landmark that visitors can see in the course of the festival is the Chinatown Storytelling CenterThe centre documents and shares the cultural stories of the Chinese Canadian community as experienced and seen in its historic epicentre, Vancouver’s Chinatown.
New this 12 months, the festival offers guests the chance to enjoy 10 exclusive street food creations hand-picked by 10 renowned Vancouver chefs with a special connection to the region. The popular Passport program can be back this 12 months. The program makes it easy for visitors to explore the neighborhood and collect stamps from local small businesses. This 12 months, participants can have great opportunities to win prizes, including two VIP tickets to the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s highly anticipated ECHO, a signed Quinn Hughes Vancouver Canucks jersey, monthly public transit passes, an Aritzia gift certificate, a Mission Hill New Year’s Eve wine set, and more.

In addition to the culinary collaborations, Light Up Chinatown! will feature live entertainment in addition to a dedicated kids’ area to make sure the event is family-friendly. You’ll even have the possibility to see traditional lion dances, remarkable martial arts demonstrations, informative neighbourhood walks and live music performances. The festival is fully licensed. Another latest addition to the festival is Vancouver’s secret speakeasy, Laowai. They’ll be available to create a particular Light Up Chinatown! signature cocktail.
