Forbes has learned that Republican mega-donor Elon Musk has quietly launched two latest firms, which could indicate his continued involvement in US politics.
The mysterious entities were formed earlier this month within the billionaire’s home state of Texas, using an address he shared together with his family office. These are United States of America Inc. and Group America LLC. Neither has been reported yet.
There is little that illuminates its purpose, but United States of America Inc. appears to be a holding company and identifies Musk as its sole director. It is listed as a managing member of Group America LLC, which Musk doesn’t discover by name but is linked to him through the address shared exclusively by a lot of his firms, including Musk Ventures and several other LLCs through which he also reportedly does business handled. Representatives for Musk didn’t reply to a request for comment.
In recent months, the tech mogul has been vocal in his support of Trump. At a campaign rally last week, he famously jumped across the stage. Now he’s Tour of Pennsylvaniaa key battleground state to campaign for the previous president. According to newly filed campaign finance documents, Musk has also turn into considered one of Trump’s biggest donors, donating not less than $75 million to America PAC, the pro-Trump political motion committee he launched in May.

And while Musk publicly supported Trump as recently as July, calling him “hard“ and a “martyrAfter the assassination attempt on the former president in Pennsylvania, he is said to have financed Republican causes for years. In contrast to his public donations to America PAC, Musk has also poured millions of dollars into conservative advertising campaigns through an LLC that are used to fund “dark money” groups that usually are not legally required to reveal their donors. The Wall Street Journal reported. In 2022, greater than $50 million of its funding reportedly ended up with Citizens for Sanity, a bunch behind a series of attack ads Transgender rights, Crime and immigrationwith ties to Trump’s former speechwriter Stephen Miller.
Musk’s latest firms don’t appear in Federal Election Commission records that show whether or not they were used to provide or receive campaign funds. The latest filings end with the third fiscal quarter of this yr, which doesn’t include the month of October, when Musk’s firms were founded.
Like many well-known figures, Musk has relied on LLCs and shell firms to hide a few of his activities. In Bastrop, Texas, his tunneling company, The Boring Company, used an LLC called Gapped Bass to amass large tracts of land. Forbes He previously reported on how his artificial intelligence startup, xAI, distributed non-disclosure agreements through a sister company to maintain its supercomputer project secret.
Curiously, United States of America Inc. also shares its name with a right-wing conspiracy theory.
Some extremist enclaves and “sovereign residents” (anti-government individuals who claim to be outside the jurisdiction of the government) believe that the country was secretly reorganized into a for-profit corporation based on misinterpretations of the 1871 law that incorporated and incorporated the District of Columbia. Ryan Bundy – son of Cliven Bundy, whose violent confrontation with federal law enforcement in 2014 has become a symbol of the sovereignty movement – referred to the “United States of America Inc.” in his subsequent lawsuit against the US government. In 2021 Qanon Followers recycled this claim to argue that President Biden’s inauguration was in actual fact illegitimate. The conspiracy theory was thoroughly discredited by historians, legal experts and disinformation researchers.
Musk doesn’t appear to have promoted and even commented on the speculation, and there isn’t any evidence that it is said to his latest company. Still, it was “United States of America Inc.” tweeted about him dozens of times of X users who appear to be pushing this ideology. The billionaire is thought for this blur the boundary between Online trolling and in real life, but it surely is unclear why he selected this name.
Musk has gone to great lengths to influence American politics, each openly and behind closed doors. His America PAC has solicited donations from Silicon Valley colleagues like investor Marc Andreessen and Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale. The committee is now offering to pay residents to persuade swing voters in states to sign a pledge supporting the First and Second Amendments. Earlier this yr, he secretly financed a campaign to oust a district attorney in Texas by sponsoring ads that claimed the prosecutor would “fill Austin’s streets with pedophiles and murderers.” The Wall Street Journal reported.
Another possibility is that Musk’s latest units have something to do together with his plans for a second Trump administration. “At the suggestion of Elon Musk” Trump said last monthThe billionaire has expressed interest in pushing for the creation of a government efficiency commission to “completely eliminate fraud and improper payments” through a comprehensive federal review. “This is urgently needed” Musk repliedAnd tweeted the crypto-related acronym DOGE – Department of Government Efficiency.
