Gym usage exceeds pre-pandemic levels due to Generation Z

ABC Fitness says the insights released in Q1 Wellness Watch represent global trends, considering data from 40 million members and 30,000 fitness businesses between January and March 2024 in over 100 countries.

Young people value wellness

ABC Fitness says that Generation Z places essentially the most value on their physical and mental health. 29 percent of recent gym members are Generation Z, and 38 percent of Gen Z respondents use traditional gyms.

Gen Z is more prone to search out a private trainer or coach (38%) than the overall population (29%), although ABC Trainerize reported a 78% increase in recent personal training clients year-over-year.
