Innovative upgrade for Apple iPhone 16 to be unveiled in the following few days, based on report

When Apple kicks off its annual World Wide Developers Conference (starting Monday, June 10, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time), AI will likely be the main focus. A brand new report claims that considered one of the iPhone’s most vital features, the voice assistant Siri, is getting major improvements.

Mark Gurman at Bloomberg has reported that Siri is getting an overhaul, and the best way it should change is pretty cool. Gurman says there will likely be “more advanced artificial intelligence, a development that will allow users to control individual app features with their voice, according to people familiar with the matter.”

This change meant an overhaul of the software that powers Siri, using LLMs (Large Language Models). It is claimed that this will likely be considered one of the highlights of the push into AI.

Siri will likely be the fundamental event. Well, it was groundbreaking when it first launched, but has fallen behind the competition currently. It will likely be included within the new edition of iOS 18, even though it continues to be unclear which devices will profit essentially the most apart from the upcoming iPhone 16 series.

Here’s the prediction: “Siri will be a focus of the WWDC unveiling. The new system will allow the assistant to control and navigate an iPhone or iPad with more precision. This includes the ability to open individual documents, move a note to another folder, send or delete an email, open a specific publication in Apple News, email a web link, or even ask the device for a summary of an article.”

Of course, Siri is not exclusive to the iPhone, so it looks like these changes will come to the iPad and Mac as well. At first, it should be limited to Apple’s own apps, but Gurman says, “The company plans to support hundreds of different commands.”

Note that while the announcement is anticipated to be made on June 10, it won’t be available for iPhone until later: “It will be part of a subsequent update to iOS 18,” Gurman explains.

That’s not the one change coming. Gurman raised the concept voice memo transcription is coming soon – a feature I’ve wanted for ages and, frankly, have been lobbiing Apple execs about. There will even be automatic message replies, advanced photo editing and website summaries, Gurman says.

Some of the more advanced AI features require a connection to the cloud, but more basic tasks are performed on the device, which is clearly the popular method given Apple’s high priority on privacy.

And there will likely be more, says Gurman: “Apple software chief Craig Federighi has instructed his teams to develop as many new AI features as possible for this year’s operating system updates.”

WWDC could possibly be pretty exciting.
