Perdue recalls chicken nuggets after metal wire present in them

Check your freezer. Perdue Foods is recalling greater than 175,000 kilos of frozen chicken nuggets and tenders after some customers reported finding metal wires within the products.

According to Perdue and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the recall affects select plenty of three products: Perdue Breaded Chicken Tenders, Butcher Box Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets and Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets.

FSIS and Perdue have determined that roughly 167,171 kilos (75,827 kilograms) of those products could also be contaminated with a foreign material after receiving an unspecified variety of customer complaints. In a press release released Friday, Maryland-based Perdue said the fabric had been “identified in a limited number of consumer packages.”

The company “later determined that the material was a very thin metal wire that had inadvertently entered the manufacturing process,” said Jeff Shaw, Perdue’s senior vice chairman of food safety and quality, in a prepared statement. Shaw added that Perdue decided to recall all affected packages “out of an abundance of caution.”

According to FSIS and Perdue, there have been no confirmed injuries or antagonistic reactions related to consumption of those products. However, FSIS is anxious that the products could also be in consumers’ freezers.

The now recalled tenders and nuggets might be identified by the product codes that appear on each Track And FSIS online notificationsAll three affected products have a best before date of March 23, 2025 and the establishment number “P-33944” on the back of the packaging. They were sold in retail stores nationwide.

Consumers who own the recalled chicken are urged to throw it away or return the product to where they purchased it. Perdue is offering a full refund of the acquisition price to affected consumers who can call the corporate at 866-866-3703.

Foreign body contamination is one in all the most important reasons for food recalls within the USA today. Just last November, Tyson Foods remembered nearly 30,000 kilos (13,600 kilograms) of chicken nuggets after consumers found pieces of metal within the dinosaur-shaped products. In addition to metal, Plastic fragments, rockParts of Insects and other “foreign” materials led to recalls because they found their way into packaged goods.
