Taylor Swift has officially announced her support for the 2024 presidential election and is supporting Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Swift made the announcement in an Instagram post shortly after the primary and maybe only presidential debate between Harris and Trump concluded on Tuesday night.
“I’ll vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz within the 2024 presidential election. I’m voting [Kamala Harris] because she fights for the rights and causes that I imagine need a champion to represent them,” Swift wrote within the post.
“I think she is a calm, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country when we are led by calm, not chaos,” the post continues. “I was so encouraged and impressed by her choice of Vice President [Tim Walz]who has been advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and women’s rights to their own bodies for decades.”
She further urged voters to coach themselves on the problem and make an informed decision on the ballot box. The post was captioned, “Taylor Swift, childless cat lady,” a reference to past comments made by Trump’s vice presidential nominee JD Vance.
Swift’s endorsement comes after Trump shared an AI-generated image last month that falsely suggested he had her support.
